As Paul says in 1 Timothy 1:15-

-This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.-

So we recognize our Past as sinners and do not glory in it, but rather we glory in how God has changed us. We learn from our past sins, our present triumphs and look toward the day when we will stand before our God and He will say Well done!
